I turn 18 in two weeks. Yay

I recently found out I get to vote in the next election. Exciting stuff.

It's for the premier of Quebec and I didn't pay attention to who's running because I didn't think I'd be able to vote by then XD
But they're all probably about the same anyways.
Canadian politics are so boring D: I need drama!!

A few things to mention

I'll be doing a gallery cleanup in the near future (like... maybe within an hour or so...?) so most of my things will either be in storage or moved into a folder. I just want to clear out my 'featured gallery'. In the revamp of deviantart there are a lot of things I didn't like (I still don't like seeing four recent deviations at once XD I miss when you saw one and three more were just listed...), but the concept of a featured gallery is great. Because there are some things I really want to post, but I don't want them in my featured gallery because it doesn't "fit", or in my scraps because to be honest nobody looks there XD

My goal is to reduce the 'featured' gallery to about 20-30 deviations. Eheheheh...




Also, my projects right now... for anyone who keeps track, I still have Fantasy Sky (which I updated yesterday), but that's going very slowly. I'm thinking of just doing the pages differently so I can update faster, because I don't want to quit it but I really don't like what I'm doing with it XD
And no "I don't like this comic so I'm going to start over from the beginning" because then nothing ever gets done.

I just don't want to be one of those people who can't finish anything D:

Though I should be finished Broken (again, not sure how many people know of its existence, but I try to plug it as often as possible XD) in the next few months. It shouldn't have taken me as long as it has, but I'm enjoying working on it. It's a fairy tale, short 60 page story that's basically a manga version of a five page story my friend wrote (you can read it at her deviantart account .)



Oh yeah, one more thing. I wanted to plug an insanely talented artist (who's also mega popular, but who cares?).

I've been obsessed with their work for the past little while O.o I tend to do this with da artists. But really, their work is incredible.

A lot of my favourites are the digital paintings, which are already amazing



But the oil paintings are just... amazing! O.o I know there are millions of oil paintings in the world, but I've never really seen still life oil paintings here on deviantart. I probably just don't look hard enough, but... I don't know, it really inspires me to see someone so talented and dedicated.




I hope I can grow the patience to do stuff like that one day

As for artists off of DA I've gotten into Giovanni Boldini's work. Don't know if he's famous or not, but I sketched one of his paintings at the Met, got intruiged and googled him. I love his portraits <3 I love his style, finished but unfinished. There's a freedom to it that I like.

Very lovely stuff. And I'd love to go back a museum and sketch some stuff again, but I didn't really see any sculptures last time I went to the Museum of Fine Arts (didn't see many paintings either...).

edit My my, I just noticed it's been over four years since I first joined DA! O.o I guess I should draw something...?
Wow. That's a long time. And I was hanging around for about 6 months before I joined, too...

I'm back from New York! It was amazing. I've actually been back for about a week, but I couldn't bring myself to get to the computer XD
One of the big things I was not looking forward to was returning to da. I definitely watch too many people!


But enough about that. We went to a lot of museums/galleries, and overall it was a really inspiring trip. I loved it Ever since starting Art History I've been very into Greek/Roman art, and we saw a few of the things we'd been studying, so it was kind of exciting

But I'm having a hard time getting back to work. Hopefully this was just a bad week (I've been pretty sick the past three days) and I'll be back soon. I haven't really drawn anything but sketches this past week though D:

Another favourite part of the museums (my favourite was by fat the Met) is the classical paintings. You just look at it and it's like a real person. I know you see a lot of this on da, but the skill and detail in this paintings is so amazing, and on top of it it's all done with real paint. Not to say I don't still like digital painting, but... c'mon XD

My friends and I spent a lot of time sketching stuff at the Met (there are a lot of art students there) so I'll be posting those later this week I guess.



And true to my predicting, I'm already sick of my journal layout. So there'll be a new one soon. Yay.
